There seems to be a thick manual in seven different languages for just about anything – except how to parent and discipline your children! And what about all those parenting books?!? They all say contradictory things! I'm a dad as well as a therapist, and I struggle with parenting decisions just as much as anybody else.

How do I help them be successful? How do I protect them from the dangers of this world while not being so controlling or rigid that I push them away? What do I do when they're driving me crazy? How do I handle these behaviors that make no sense to me? Why does discipline seem to work one day and not the next? How do I avoid making the same mistakes my parents made with me or how can I be a great parent like my parents were in this crazy world we live in today?

The truth is that every child is different, and they all have different needs. Those needs change from day to day and throughout their development. Each child was made by God and is inherently valuable, as are you. Yes, you're going to mess up.
